Region 2:

Climbing the Calmont mountain between Ediger-Eller and Bremm
De steepest wine mountain of Europe

Climbing mountains at the Mosel? On the Calmont this is possible.
The Calmont-climbing route is approximately 5 kilometer long. In total six aluminium rails will help you to control the steepest parts. Overhanging rocks are secured with 22 pins and 26 hooks.
Till 26 meter long steel cables are installed at the most dangerous parts.
The mountainside is above the Mosel between 200 and 300 meters. The view at the top is breathtaking. The Mosel will pass under your feet, glittering.
Like all mountains that will be climbed, good shoes and a lack of fear are necessary. Ropes and climbing gear are not necessary. Some parts of the route are only recommended for the more practised climbers.
